The Mom

I love this photo, mostly because you can see the expensive purse, and there is a champagne bottle over my shoulder, and lots of wine glasses.  Oh, and my husband.

My name is Hilary.

I am addicted to coffee, chocolate, Diet Coke with Splenda, and enjoy anything caffeinated. I love purses...very expensive purses.  I have a strange obsession with garden gnomes.

I have three beautiful children, two boys and a girl. The girl is the youngest, which means I am asked EVERYDAY by strangers if I am happy that I, “finally got my girl.” I tell them I am thrilled to have all my kids, but if anyone knows of a snarky reply, PLEASE let me know.

I am Catholic and I think I’m becoming a Libertarian. I believe that every thought that pops into ones head DOES NOT need to be shared on Facebook. That is what blogs are for.

I am married to Patrick. Patrick is an incredibly patient man. We were set up over 10 years ago on a blind date. It was the first and last blind date for both of us. When people meet Patrick they comment that he looks like Clark Kent. I think he secretly enjoys this. He certainly is Superman. Who else would deal with my craziness? I’m sure it has everything to do with the fact that I have calculated his child support payments am of amazing wit and intellect...of course I’m kidding.

I am a homebody by nature and love spending time curled up in bed watching movies with the family. For the sake of the kids sanity I try to get everyone out of the house as much as I possibly can tolerate. This means I have to change out of my sweat pants. I LOVE sweatpants, but I don’t leave the house in my sweatpants. Contrary to popular belief, going to the grocery store with all three children is NOT a nightmare.

I TRY to keep my house clean and tidy. I don’t mind laundry, which is a good thing because our laundry baskets have a revolving door. I strive to be “green”. In truth, I prefer pink.

This is not a cooking/photography/perfect family blog.

I love to cook. One of my favorite things to do with the boys is bake. I firmly believe there are few problems that a homemade chocolate brownie will not solve. I will share recipes, but I don’t expect to get a cookbook gig from this.

I enjoy taking photos. I have the cutest subjects ever, but I am not a proficient photographer. I really want to learn how to use my camera and take photos on a setting other than “manual”. I am hoping to see progress in this area, but Annie Lebowitz I will never be.

My family is not perfect. I am a type A personality. I struggle to keep my cool. Vincent struggles to be outgoing. Franklin struggles to be nice to his sister. Colette struggles against her afternoon nap. Patrick struggles to...well, maybe Patrick is perfect.

Colette is the one rocking the flower headband. Don’t you love it? She clearly does.

That’s Patrick. That’s Patrick’s cocktail on the side table. After 8 years of marriage I recently learned that he likes carrot cake. He is suddenly like a stranger to me.

And of course, Frankie and Vinny. Vinny went through this “no paparazzi” period. For about a year all photos of him had some part of his hand covering the shot. I’m glad that phase is over.
As you can see, we call Frankie “Smiles” for a reason.
